Are you a seasoned financial professional with a talent for quickly mastering new systems and driving process improvements? We are seeking a Senior Financial Accountant who excels in innovating financial processes and engaging with stakeholders to enhance our financial operations.
This role is on a permanent, full time basis.
About the role:
- Technical accounting: Up to date with the latest standards and changes in the accounting space. Deliver high-quality financial reporting and analysis by leveraging your deep understanding of technical accounting principles. Ensure that all financial data and documentation meet the highest standards of accuracy and compliance, with strict adherence to deadlines.
- System Mastery: Efficiently adapt to and manage our financial systems, ensuring accurate and timely reporting in line with Australian Accounting Standards, including statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Process Innovation: Enhance and automate financial processes by critically evaluating the chart of accounts and general ledger, implementing solutions that improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Provide expert financial advice and deliver relevant insights to stakeholders, supporting strategic decision-making and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Financial Controls: Identify and address systemic issues, leading initiatives to refine financial guidelines, systems, and controls in accordance with company practices and accounting standards.
- Adaptability: Respond to business changes by updating financial information and processes, preparing impact assessments for changes in accounting standards, and communicating these to Management.
- Reporting Excellence: Oversee month-end and year-end reporting, including audit preparation and ad hoc requests, ensuring data integrity and timely, accurate external reporting.
- Business Support: Assist with various business needs such as capitalisation, credit risk analysis, and valuation reporting.
What you’ll bring:
- Seasoned professional with extensive demonstrated experience in a public practice or commercial accounting environment.
- Tertiary Qualified / Degree in Business, Finance or Commerce
- Chartered Accountants (CA), CPA, NIA or equivalent membership.
- In depth subject matter expertise and knowledge of financial accounting processes and procedures
- Excellent knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Committed, result and solution focus partner with attention to details and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with strong influencing capabilities
- Highly experience in year-end audit process and liaising with auditors including preparation of financial statements and annual reports.
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency
