Western Australian volunteer bushfire brigades will soon benefit from funding grants from Western Power to support bushfire fighting capabilities during the bushfire season.

Applications are currently open and will close Monday 15 January 2024.
Each year, Western Power invites volunteer bushfire brigades within its network service area to apply for direct funding for items and other services that are not able to be purchased via the State Government’s Emergency Services Levy.

Western Power’s Chief Executive Officer Sam Barbaro said the organisation was proud to give back to volunteer groups who played such a vital role in the community, protecting lives, homes and businesses from the devasting impacts of summer bushfires.

“This funding will assist volunteer bushfire brigades to purchase additional firefighting equipment such as water pumps, chain saws, thermal imaging cameras and GPS tablets, all part of ensuring brigades are able to safely and effectively carry out firefighting activities,” he said.

“Last year, Western Power was able to provide funding to 38 successful grant recipients spread across the Western Power service area.”

“These grants highlight our commitment to making a positive difference in local communities and recognise the dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to protect the community.”

The Grant Application Pack can be found on the Bushfire Volunteers WA Facebook page or by emailing admin@bushfire.org.au.
